its not very good. wrote it for this english free write thingy and figured id do it a day ahead of time. im not crazy.
I am told to write,
And what do I do?
Do I write about a house,
A box or a shoe?
Or maybe a plane
That has flown around the world,
Or of my cute puppy
Who recently has hurled.
No, no, no,
None of these subjects will suffice,
For when it comes to writing
Topic choosing is my vice.
I need to write about something
That is me,
That resembles who I am
And allows my thoughts to run free.
Perhaps about imagination
In the most peculiar manner,
Or how about a summer vacation
In which I fail to get tanner.
No, no, no,
None of these subjects will suffice,
For when it comes to writing
I’m much pickier than mice.
The subject cannot be boring
Or dismal or grey.
The subject can’t be futile
Or have little to say,
The motivation must be perfect,
Something that blows my mind.
A song, a poem,
A prose of some kind.
There needs to be passion
For the subject I choose,
For if it does not interest me
The reader will surely snooze.
I could write about bravery
hardship or fame?
Even a regular old
basketball game.
No, no, no,
None of these topics will suffice.
I need to take a chance here,
I need to roll the dice
Perhaps the subject could be
As simple as love.
For love there is no
Definite definition of.
I could write about love for my puppy
Or the girl of my dreams,
Or if it so suits me
A page on English B themes.
I could explore my love for my words
That are a piece of who I am,
Or my love for this country
And good old Uncle Sam.
Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself,
Topics too big for me to handle.
Maybe I need to take a bath
Before which I light a candle.
I sit there in the tub,
Watching the glowing flame twinkle.
And as I sit an idea comes to mind,
So exciting I almost tinkle.
I jump out of the tub
And run to my writers chair,
But before I have the pen in hand
I had already lost my flare.
No, no, no,
None of these schemes will suffice,
For cheating your way to a topic
One will surely pay the price.
I need to stop stressing out,
What is the rush here?
I must not hasten the topic choosing
For it could take all year.
Did Fitzgerald rush his thinking
When he thought up young Jay?
Or did Homer complete the Odyssey
In only one day?
These writers are great
And inspire me to follow,
Their footsteps of great topics,
Of ones not hollow.
So I sit here and ponder
Of my ideas and dreams,
Of something I can write about
Almost impossible it seems.
I will continue to sit
And ponder for hours,
For picking just the right topic,
The writer it empowers.
peace out

I really like it. It's interesting how a poem that's technically about nothing could be so lengthy and in depth.
One word. WOW. And I don't even know you.
