Gasland

Well fuck. Just watched a god damn documentary and its got me all angry. So here we are, and here i shall talk.

Fuck politics. Seriously. Fuck politics. I have gone through school learning about fucking politics and have come away hating it. Throughout senior year, i had friends who were really political, and still are, and they would just badger and fight about politics. Its fucking dumb. Often times, I have seen politics do more harm than help, and then in order to correct the shit that politics has fucked up, it takes hours and years of fucking work. Its fucking dumb. Politics are supposed to help the people, help voice the people, and all that good shit. But instead, people are being quieted, and big fucking companies are just trying to make more money. Honestly, how much fucking more money do we need? We are just greedy sons of bitches.

Gasland, is a documentary that I just watched on HBO. Holy Fuck. That was quite a trip. The documentary followed one dude, who has a nice country house somewhere on the east coast. He got offered by natural gas companies to sell his land for them to drill on. That prompted him to find out what happens when natural gas companies drill on his land. After more research, he found out that natural gas drilling has been allowed to bypass the clean water act, which set regulations on pollutants and safety regulations when drilling. Funny fucking thing is, Mr Dick Cheney, who was an exec for a natural gas company prior to being elected VP, then enacted a bill that allowed for the natural gas companies to bypass the clean water act. Well fuck, sounds pretty fucked up doesnt it? The movie goes on to visit homes of people who have drilling wells on and nearby their land. These people's water was so polluted that they literally could turn on their tap water, hold a match next to it, and watch it burst into flames. People have been getting sick, constant headaches, and getting so bad as to have brain damage due to all the pollutants in the air and water. Its fucked up. Fucked up beyond belief. And at the end of the movie, you sit in on a congressional committee meeting where people blatantly reject all accusations that the drilling has any negative effect on water supply and health. I mean seriously, people really dont give a fuck about anyone else as long as they are getting their paycheck.

And it makes me worried for myself and others around me. I live in California, I love California, and I plan on always living in California. But i hope as hell it never gets as bad as to where my own tap water can be lit on fire. I may not be a guy who stands up for many causes. I am no key club member or activist. But I like to spread shit that I feel people need to know and see. People say documentaries are biast and one sided and shit, and well, of coure they fucking are. But they are film, they show shit. I know when stuff is edited to show one thing and when effects are applied to change the contents of an image, so dont try and say im just a dumb fuck who gets fooled by movies. They are meant to prove a point, to serve a purpose, to inform. It is the perfect media form for an age that relies on less newspaper reading and more video watching. Watch the documentary. See how it makes you feel.
